Why Procrastination Is Good

Alright, I am one lazy son of a gun. But the thing is that I wouldn't change it even if I could. I keep telling myself that procrastination is a good thing because doing chores and stressing out seems like too much work!  Here are some of the positive things about procrastination.

1. Less stress
Putting things of until the last minute will in some ways reduce stress. If you have a week to do a project, then why spend all seven days on it, when you can spend one? Thinking about one thing for a week can't be good for your brain. Put your tasks off until the last day and go play some playstation instead. Chill for six days - concentrate for one. You now have six days to do absolutely nothing! Stress cured. Period.

2. Gain respect
When putting things off your colleagues / school mates will start wondering where you find all of your spare time. They will start admiring you for being somewhat of a dare devil that isn't afraid of not meeting deadlines (even though you do meet deadlines, because you are a good procrastinator - otherwise you probably wouldn't be reading about why procrastination is good for you)! Also, when you are actually able to pull off the "F*ck it, I'll do it tomorrow"-line the jealousy will just be too much for everybody else, and people will start trying to be like you.

3. Procrastination pays off now
If you have taken any kind of financial accounting or economics class you probably know that cash is worth more now than it is tomorrow. The same goes for your spare time. Hard work might pay off in the future, but procrastination pays off now! Go enjoy yourself while you can.

4. Do what you love
Procrastination occurs when you have to do something that you don't like. Might be work, homework, the dishes, eating your vegetables, laundry or having sex with your girlfriend. Either way, you're not doing what you love! Stop doing things that bore you and get more out of your life.

5. If you really don't want to, then don't
Do things when you want to do them! If you don't feel like working, then don't. Your work will be frustrating and you might even end doing everything completely wrong and get fired. Do things when you feel like it. No matter when. Do your work when it interests you! Just because you aren't working on your project it doesn't mean that you aren't thinking about it. Getting away from your project for a few hours might even give you ideas that you couldn't see before.

6. Double procrastination
One hour spent playing games online is one hour that you don't have to spend with your wife. Simple as that.
